34% MORE Estheticians are going to be needed in the next 8 years!

Our Esthetics program takes about 10 1/2 weeks to complete.
It is a difficult program.

There are easier programs, but they have horrible pass rates and a very low placement rate as well.

Basically you have a choice of a couple of other schools. One is about the same price, but they don't
provide you with a student kit, products, or a machine.
Also they have a not-so-great state board exam pass rate,
and and even worse job placement rate.

Think I'm kidding?
Ask them!

Check out the search engines to see their programs.

GOOGLE

Hmmmmm not so great huh? We know!

This is a GREAT time to get involved in this fun,
exciting,
satisfying,
and profitable business!

How do I start?
1. Start - HERE - by taking our online entrance exam.
2. Then e-mail your score and pass code to us.
3. Then call (907) 276-4110 and schedule your interview.
4. Figure out your financing. THIS is a great place to start.

? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Did you know that most esthetics schools in Alaska have a severe lack of equipment for you to train on?

Did you know, that many esthetics schools in Alaska provide you with a text book... That's it!
(The really advanced ones also give you a workbook. WOW!)

Do you really want to sit around on a couch reading your text book for thousands of dollars,
just to flunk the state board exam over and over?

     1. Before you sign up for any program, ask to see the equipment you will be training on.
         Do they even have any?

     2. Ask to see their pass/fail stats. (Yes, they DO have them, the board of barbers and hairdressers
         provides them!)

     3. Ask to see their placement rates. (Yes, they DO have them, the Commission on PostSecondary Education
can provide them for you if the school refuses to.)

     4. Ask to see the student kit they provide. Do they even have one?

     5. Ask to see the facial machine they include with their program. WHAT?
They don't do that? (I know!)

     6. Check their price and see what you REALLY get for your money?

     7. Call a couple places you're interested in working and see who THEY would suggest!

Mr. Couch.

Mr. Franz Sigel Shroy
In some schools THIS (or a chair) will be your instructor.
You will sit here and teach yourself esthetics out of the
text book. When you DO have an instructor, they will
stop teaching you whenever a "walk-in" client comes in.
(This is illegal!)

You won't train on beauty equipment, because they don't
have any. (Think I'm kidding? ASK to see what you'll
train on.)

You won't get to keep any equipment as part of your
student kit. (ASK to see the equipment you keep!)

You will either work only on each other or on a manikin instead of working on clients. Most schools have a very
limited esthetics clientele.

They have a chair, a table, and... uh...?

So do you want to pay for a REALLY expensive couch
rental for a couple of months...
or do you want to really learn the
art and science of esthetics?

At MetrOasis®, Sigel and Sue will be your instructors.

Sigel is a licensed hairdresser, a licensed esthetician, and a licensed instructor and has done platform work and advanced classes in
Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada.

Sigel is also a an NCEA member, and holds a level 3 NCFE in the U.K., a beauty technician diploma
(with distinction) in makeup and skin care from
Stonebridge College, in England.

Sigel also received training from Emmy Award winner Dina Ousley
in airbrush makeup in Hollywood.

Sigel has also developed the formulations for several hair
care and skin care product lines.

We have a regular theory class once a day,
Tuesdays through Fridays,
and individualized classes on various other days
where we teach you different techiques and how to use various
beauty machines.

Sigel has been in the beauty industry since 1979
and will teach you multi-function machines,
ultrasonic deconstruction and sonophoresis,
microcurrent, galvanic iontophoresis and disincrustation,
RF, electrolysis, digital microscope, photon therapy and photorejuvenation, diamond microdermabrasion, and more.

Sigel has formulated numerous products for several hair care
and skin care lines, travels internationally to bring you the
best and most effective techniques and products available and
can teach you techniques the other schools haven't even heard of!

So... why would you even consider going to another school?

HEADS UP!
(2006)
Stuff you ABSOLUTELY need to
know BEFORE you sign up for
ANY Esthetics program in Alaska!

In (2006) 111 students took the Alaska State Board Esthetics Exam,
but only 39 passed.

This means that 72 didn't pass!
This puts the pass rate for Alaska at 35% while the national average is 63%.

This means that just in 2006,
these students wasted almost half a million dollars...
supporting schools...
that do not teach...
what their students paid them to teach!

Has it gotten any better?
(2009)

The last report we received (July 24 2009) from the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers states -

State totals including MetrOasis®
36 people passed the practical exam and 5 failed the practical exam.
35 people passed the written exam and 14 people failed the written exam.
This means 87% passed the practical exam.
This also means that 71% passed the written exam.

State totals excluding MetrOasis®
29 passed the practical exam and 5 failed the practical exam.
85% pass rate on practical exam.
29 passed written and 13 failed the written exam.
69% pass rate on written exam.

MetrOasis® only
7 passed the practical exam and 0 failed the practical exam.
100% pass rate on practical exam.
6 passed the written exam and 1 failed the written exam.
85% pass rate on written exam.

So, do you want an 85% pass rate (other schools) on your practical exam or a 100% (MetrOasis®) ?
Do you want a 69% pass rate (other schools) on your written exam or an 85% (MetrOasis®) ?

If you combine the written and the practical exams, the other schools combined have a pass rate of 76%.
The combined written/practical exam pass rate for MetrOasis® is 92.85%

So, if ANY school in Alaska has a better pass rate than this...
Please send it to us so that we can brag about YOU as well.
We've been waiting several years for this report to arrive... but it hasn't... still !

FIND OUT if you are going to be teaching yourself
esthetics or if you are going to have an instructor!

I've heard similar complaints about the other schools AND
especially the apprenticeship programs too!

What do you need to know about going to our school, or any school in the beauty industry?
We offer vocational training, which means that we offer training that prepares you for a job.
So, before you do anything else, you should contact a couple of salons or spas that you are interested in working for...
and ask THEM who has the best training in town.

They almost always suggest us. Why? For one reason, they are tired of retraining everyone they hire straight out of school.
Our graduates are ready to start work the day they graduate from our programs.
It could be because we have the best state board pass rate in the state. It could be our 100% placement rate.

Beauty School Reviews

It could be our classic European cutting techniques, our Italian hair color training, or it could be our communication training.
It could be the fact that we hand-pick one hairdressing student each month.
We realize that some of the other schools have many more students, but remember we said that we are training you for a job.
We are not a certificate factory that pops out bunches of hairdressing students each month that don't have a clue what they're doing and that salons are afraid to hire.
Our goal? It's simple.
We are looking for future top stylists and future salon owners.
That's it. The fact that we are willing to say this openly seems to irritate some of the other school owners. So what!
We don't take students that can't speak English... because they can't pass the state board exam.
We don't allow drug use, and we expect you to act professionally. Perhaps this is why we have the best state board pass rate in Alaska.
We require an entrance exam and an interview to make sure that you have what it takes to become a success.
We require you to treat yourself and the other students, and our clients with respect.
If are looking for the best training in the state, and you can live with these terms, WE can change YOUR life!
If you can't live with these terms, or if you tend to settle for mediocre, you should pick out another school.

IS MetrOasis® really the best? Yes. We really are.
Just this week I had to document the stats just above. There are the public stats there for everybody to see.

So... This section has been updated now. Everybody happy?

THIS kind of stuff is exactly why I decided to open a school!
Do I seem a little bit contentious regarding the other schools?
Perhaps it is because my first professional communication with one school owner consisted of him sending a student to talk with me
with a very specific message to tell me that I was an idiot, and that I need to learn what I am doing.

Did I?        My school has a MUCH better reputation than yours EVER had!

I went to talk with another school owner and told him I had 12 students waiting to start and that I could
double his income within 8 months. Instead of having an honest conversation with me, he pretended
not to be the owner but said "You tell me your plan and if it's good, then I'll tell the owner"...
Hoping to make me a practical joke for the people standing around.

Oops!

Yet another school owner spoke with me for less than 3 minutes. He closed 3 months later.

So, I tried to work with the other school owners long before I ever opened a school.
Nobody was interested. Now I'm not interested.

It's ON now, boys! What? Where you expecting a cake or something?

Did we mention that we've also had a 100%
placement rate since the year 2000?
(PostSecondary requires that each school maintain a placement roster. WHERE are the grandiose claims
about placement? You know, where your students actually GET jobs?
I didn't see any. If the state requires that EACH school keep
these records, why not share this information with the public?)

If you want to find out this PUBLIC information you can call PostSecondary
at (907) 465-2962 and request this information.

(EACH school must provide this report to the state upon their renewall.)

"Layered Learning Concept"

Our students are so successful because we use the "layered learning concept" where the materials
needed to pass the state board exam, and indeed, to be successful in a salon / spa
are presented several times, several ways, and in several mediums. It works!

Theory - Skill Goals - Clinic Floor - Internet Portal - Individual Study

We have "theory" nearly every day,
which is the book work portion of our program which helps
prepare you for your career and the state board exam.

We also have a "weekly skill goal" which is the hands on teaching portion of our program
which helps prepare you for your career and your real life experience in a salon or spa.
The schedule of skill goals can be seen here.

The "clinic floor" is where our students perform esthetic services for our clients.

We have materials for our students available on the Internet at the top of this page.
Our students are given a password and a log-on name so that they can access this information.

Our students are given study materials that they can study at school, at home, anywhere they like.

We use several educational resources as part of our curriculum.

The student kit also contains manual facial components which include brushes, Pharmagel products, cape, applicators, spatulas, cotton, gloves, paper goods, study center materials, etc.

Students in the Esthetician program will train on of several cutting-edge technology
photon-kinetic-energy machines, which helps
reduce pigment discoloration, reduces telangiectasis,
smooths out wrinkles and reduces pore size. These devices are also highly
effective on acne outbreaks and activate the production of collagen and new skin cells, and improves
skin flexibility while
helping to expel lymphoid toxins and increasing blood circulation.

These Photon Devices utilize
both red and blue LED's.
This machine helps to eliminate wrinkles, stimulates the skin to produce collagen and to regenerate skin cells,

improves the overall health of the skin, and increases the skin's elasticity.

These syngeristic photon devices also help to reduce pigment spots, and chloasma and aids in evening out skin tones.
The blue, limited range (415 nm) LED's penetrate the skin and the light's antibacterial nature attacks the proprionibacterium acne bacteria that causes acne.
The red, limited range (660nm) LED's soothe the skin, eliminate actinic keratoses, and help to reduce painful acne inflammation by stimulating fibroblast proliferation while helping to speed the skin ability to heal itself.

Unlike many other acne lamps, these lights produce no UV light and also help to even out the tone and texture of the skin.
These lights work on most mild to moderate acne cases with a reported 70% to 76% success.

Want clear acne-free skin? Try a couple of our anti-acne
facials with our Photo Rejuvenation equipment!

This is a light, not laser. There is no radiation. Lasers usually have one specific wavelength and use just one color. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
uses many wavelengths which allow us to treat several different conditions "at the speed of light."
We can treat rosacea, broken blood vessels, capillaries, diffuse redness of the face, or "red neck" as well as melasma, age spots,
sun spots, freckles, and general pigmentation unevenness.
There is virtually no down time and the procedure is extremely safe. It is performed while you are wide awake in the salon or school.

No anesthesia is necessary. These light treatments also help produce more collagen deep within the skin, and with just one treatment,
your skin is refreshed, less blotchy, has fewer wrinkles, and smaller pores!
